How it started…
Sherkin North Shore provides a unique and rich experience.
Mike and Kathy O’Connor created Sherkin North Shore in 2014. Their son Dan has since joined the business. Known for their warm hospitality and love of cooking the food at Sherkin North Shore has become well known and loved in Roaringwater Bay and West Cork where Mick has a flare for cooking, Dan for his curries and pancakes and Kathy is known for some great family classics. All three have a great passion for music, the outdoors, dancing and literature. Through the first seven years of the business, they have focused on attracting groups and retreats to the island, notably the Open Ear Music Festival being the major highlight from 2016-2020 and from 2024-2025.
Daniel brings a massive love of the outdoors to the business with a great love for water sports and more recently gardening. If you are looking for an adventure on the island, Daniel will be able to give great advice.
