Sherkin is within the Roaringwater Bay Special Area of Conservation and has over 450 species of Flora and Fauna which you can experience while hiking. Whether it be a walk along its many sandy beaches, beautiful cliffs or to the highest point on Slievemore you will not be disappointed.


Baltimore and Roaringwater Bay are truly a sailor’s paradise. Whether a beginner or experienced sailor you have many options with two sailing schools in Heir Island and Baltimore, a sailing club and a Yacht Charter company.

Surfing and Swimming

Surf or Swim the Atlantic on one of Sherkin’s 4 beautiful beaches. The Abbey Pier and Horseshoe Harbour are both popular swimming spots

Sea Kayaking

Sherkin has its own Sea Kayaking Tour company H2O is run by Pat Rodgers, an experienced kayaker and all-around adventurer. Based on Sherkin Island in the heart of West Cork’s Carberry Isles. We run tours from half-day outings to 3-day safaris! Please visit for more information
